Xera Tips: Xera Faceting

Xera – Did You Know? : Xera Faceting!

Xera can run filtering and actively tally on any limited text field. We call this Xera Faceting. You know them as Facets. When Facets are activated, Xera  works just like running a shopping filter in Amazon. Just select the options you want and update your filter.  Here’s what it looks like in action.

Any subsequent searches will be limited to that filter until it’s cleared, allowing for rapid searching within a filtered set. Thats right! Search within that defined scope only. Traditionally, this is a highly complex limiting query that stifles focused narrow searching in a document collection. Not with Xera Faceting. It’s just a couple of clicks away.

The number displayed to the side of the facet  is the total number of times that value appears in your current search. This can be a fast way to identify custodian responsiveness, document types, and an accurate date range for your query. You can even use it to identify patterns of user created content on specific dates within your mountain of data. Genius!

Your read it right. Faceted date fields can be expanded all the way down to a daily level. This is useful for identifying email traffic, but it can also to setup a date filter, without creating a date range query. Check out an overview of Facet Benefits below.

The Benefits of Facets:

  • Data is always current and actionable, even as more documents are loaded.
  • Find Authors, Custodians, Document Types and more, quickly with no complex queries.
  • Easy to discover date trends and areas of higher than normal activity.
  • Learn more, faster with no searching or reporting.
